Hi All,
What is SMS station ? and why is it used only with Superdome ?
Is it not possible to run the diag from the same server itself, we have LPMC / chassis error /HPMC and logs like that in OS, can it be used for diag ? what all the additional things that can be done with SMS.
Thanks and Regards,
Bond

Re: SMS Station
The SMS (system management station - was also used with the predecessor V-Class) is used to do some additional and special offline (chip scan) tests and firmware updates. The strategy to do firmware updates is very different with different hardware.
But also your server is able to do the same online and offline diag tests like all other HP-UX servers.
Use xstm/mstm/cstm do diag your problems.
In case of any doubt contact HP.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
