SNMP support for rx7620

Hi,
If I run snmpwalk on the console IP it gives a timeout. Does the MP console on rx7620 support SNMP? If so how do we enable it?

Probably console have some sort of support

Hi,

Yes, the MP/iLO support SNMP.
Check by logging into MP
MP > CM > ID
It will display
1. SNMP contact information
2. SNMP server information
3. SPU hostname

Put the required information out there. The information could be accessed with "public" community under SNMP.

Sameer,
For rx7620(NPAR) server "id" command does not give any SNMP related information. u r right for other MP consoles. There is a difference between rx7620 MP console and other MP consoles.
Basically we r trying to find the type of console(GSP or MP) programmatically. SNMP gives
the type of console for other consoles.

If you have the latest firmware on your RX7620 (4.00) you can enable SNMP via the SA command on the MP

Hmm I think it should work with older firmware versions as well.

Hi Rajat,

as Marco mentioned, using the SA command with the menu option S will allow you to enable/disable the SNMP manageability of the MP card, when initially enabled you need to reset the MP to activate the SNMP feature. By default/out of the box it is not enabled i think.


If you run the below command then it should work, if not check what is in between your MP card and the system that runs the SNMP query to make sure their is no network component that filters out these kind of traffic.


Below is an example for a RX7620 and a RX8620 :

I read the in the release notes of firmware at ITRC patch database about SNMP capability was added initially as one of the Manageability Firmware Features in 3.01 version.
