Hi Ajin,

rx 16xx 26xx means on the "server lineup", they are entry class servers typically processsor based systems without crossbars and cell boards

rp 74xx 84xx represents mid range servers that would be cell based systems.

Well from those two digits you will be able to know the class of the server in terms of the server lineup.

Don't forget to assign points.

Re: Searver Model No Meaning

Several years ago HP introduces this naming scheme, "r" means rack optimized, "p" PA-RISC, "x" Itanium CPU, the first digit is the family, the following digits means the position in this family.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Searver Model No Meaning

You cannot derive anything from the numbers really, except that "In general" the larger the digit in position 1, the larger the number of sockets a system supports, although even this rule is broken (a rp54xx has only 4 sockets, the same as a rp44xx), and the digit in position 2 is "4" for all HP9000 systems and "6" or higher for all Integrity systems.

So they are a pure marketing construction - pay them no mind, you are always best to go look up each model on hp.com if you are unsure of its configuration.
