Software power off needed

Hi,

My machine is a cx2620. I need to turn off the system by command. Can any one help?

I think this can be done through the MP (Management processor..or something).

Re: Software power off needed

Hi,

Yes can turn off the system from MP, below is the command.

MP: PC

PC : Remote Power Control - turn system power on and off

For proper system shutdown, shut down the OS before issuing this command.

This command allows the user to switch the system power ON or OFF, or Power
Cycle the machine. The user can have the action take place immediately, or
after a specified delay.

Note this is roughly equivalent to turning the system power off at the
front panel switch- there is no signal sent to the OS to bring the
software down before power is turned off. To turn the system off properly,
the operator must ensure that the OS is in the proper shutdown state
before issuing this command, by using the proper OS commands.

Best Regards,
Prashanth

On Integrity servers, you can have graceful shutdown of OS using (IIRC) "-gc" option with PC command in MP and turn off the power to server. Checkout the help in MP.

Re: Software power off needed

I'm not sure if the cx2600 changed the config's or not, but on its cousin the rx2620, the MP is an optional add-on. Given where I would expect things like a cx2620 to be used I'd ass-u-me it would have been ordered with an MP, but there is the chance it was ordered without one.

Re: Software power off needed

MP Main menu>cm
cm>pc

it will show the power status, and some on/off option. u will do it easily.
