dumb terminal connected to HPUX 11.31

HI all,
I have connected my dumb teerminal keyboard monitor to RX machine with HPUX 11.31 version.
From MP command I go to CO for console but nothing appear.
The same dumb terminal if connected to other server with HPUX 11.23 I can see Console login: whenever perform CO from MP command.
Pls advice

Hi,

Did you checked the all setting of your dumb terminal ? Are you using physical serial ports ? If yes check this parameters
baud 9600,
8 bits
1 stop bit
no parity

How to check that if from notebook can go to accecories - hyper terminal

THis one blank dumb terminal. After connected to console serial port I straight away hit ctr+b to go to MP command

use putty, don't need to setup speed ....,

just set => serial port and connect.

You did not tell what server you have, but from EFI shell try

Shell> conconfig

setting must be primary = serial

two ways u can access console
one is lan console
second one is serial console

in serial console u can directly connect through the hyper terminal then u will get mp console
enter default username and passwd
in lan console u can telnet to the server
it needs ip address unlike serial console

Sorry all I did not inform earlier my root id was disable so unable to login from putty or rlogin.
I am not good about this. How to get EFI from MP command?

Depending on the server model console can be on serial or VGA. If it is on VGA, you cannot access the console via MP.

Grep the syslog for a messages like this:

"Console is on a Serial Device"

You need to stop the boot process.

You can also try to point your browser to the MP address and open the remote console.

(it would be easier if you would tell what server you have - we don't need to talk about VGA if your server doesn't have such).
