gsp on ia64?

Hey;

I have a 2620 on which I need to see the hardware logs to verify a power supply. On pa-risc boxes, I hit -B followed by sl (or some combination of key codes to get to the sl command).

b doesn't seem to work on any of the 2620s that I have...

Do ia64 systems even have a GSP? How do I go about seeing the hardware logs?

The GSP on a rx2620 is pretty much identical to that on a PA-RISC rp3440. If you are connected through the console, then CTRL-B should work.

How are you connecting to the system?

Hello,

You should be prompt for the MP login and password and then you should see MP prompt and select Sl to view the logs. The ctrl-b should work. My something with you key mapping on the keyboard.

The rx2620 is the *ONLY* server I know where the MP was *optional* - is one installed???

Better check this!

Torsten is correct, on rx2620 MP is optional, better check physically whether you have one or not.

If your system does not have MP, try to access BMC CLI.

1. To access the BMC CLI, press Esc (
For US KB, press ESC, then Shift and 9 at
the same time.

CLI usage is available at :

You can see the CLI message something like below. The command ps would be appropriate command for you.

Torsten - the MP was optional on the rx2620, the rx2600, rx1620 and rx1600. It was also I believe optional on the zx6000 and the zx2000.

MP's (with iLO) are included in all the current HP Integrity offerings - eg rx2660, rx3600, rx6600, BL860c, BL870c.

The cell-based systems (rx7640, rx8640 and SuperDome) have MP's and I think optional iLOs but the iLO parts may still be optional.

Rick, according to the product overview section of the manuals the MP was standard for the rx2600, optional for zx6000 racked version (but this was a workstation) and optional for the rx16xx (if I think about servers I always forget about them ...). Some of the Superdomes call this devices still GSP, only newer versions call it MP. In addition there is a Lights Out Advanced / KVM Card (LOA) (PCI-X card) with iLO features for sx2000 based Integrity servers.

Some people thought if they order a "standard" rx2620 it has a MP installed, but it hasn't (this was the problem...).

Turns out these guys don't have a GSP - it does have the BMC CLI thing which, although ugly as all heck, will seem to do what I need - at least for now..
