I have a demo host -hp rx2660 .As everyone knows ,the hp rx2660 will down over 35℃.I do a test after modifying the envd.conf .the host down at 38℃.according to the hp manaul, the highest temperature is 40℃.How to do that besides modifying the envd.conf ?

Re: how to modify hp rx2660 down host temperature ?

This is hardcoded in the firmware and most probably can not be changed.
Also the man page of envd says:

"Over-temperature and fan failure handling is supported only on systems equipped with appropriate sensing hardware. Over-temperature and fan failure limits vary, depending on the hardware. Each system processor defines its own thresholds for supported equipment combinations."

Hi there,

I believe it is hardcoded along with the firmware. Why would you like to change the Temp limit anyway?

You may modify the threshold for OS shutdown, but values for emergency power off are fixed in firmware.

Why do you want to do this?

There are faster ways to destroy your hardware!

Hope this helps!

Re: how to modify hp rx2660 down host temperature ?

hi torsten
thanks for your idea.We will be faced with a serious struggle with IBM .our consumer want to know why HP rx2660 will be down at 40â but IBM the server will not be down ?they know HP's server will down at 35â and IBM' server will down at the 40â .So they also wish HP's server will down at the 40â .or resolve action .in fact ,they will keep the HP default's configuratoin about the temperature .but I do not konw how to resolve the tough the case :( May be we will be lost the trade .....

Re: how to modify hp rx2660 down host temperature ?

IMHO everything above 30 degrees celsius is too much for all computers ...

Even if I would wish a shutdown at 60 degrees - this would not change the facts.

;-)

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
