I have a rx2600 machine which has HP UX already installed and i want to install linux on the same machine .
But the trouble is that there is no cd/dvdrom .

I would purchase a DVD drive. This will help you in many situations, not only while installing.
You may also use PXE to boot the rx2600.

Hope this helps!

We netboot these things all the time, and then install from either an ftp, http, or nfs source.

Re: loading linux in rx2600 when HP UX is already there

there is this option in HPUX where at the EFI shell you can use the "lanboot select -dn dbprofile " command to boot from the network .

but i was not able to use the dbprofile command.
(dbprofile command is used to create a profile , which gives the details of where to boot the machine from )

thanks

If you want to boot from the network, you need an appropriate server process.
(Like already mentioned) your server is able to boot from PXE, how about this?

Hope this helps!
