Re: nPar/Vpar servers.

rx6660 and rx3660 are not cell based, so you can't get vpars working on them.

by VSE do you mean HPIVM or Secure resource partitions?

Then yes you can use Integritiy virtual machines or Secure resource partitions with those servers.

More info:

Windows?, no thanks

Re: nPar/Vpar servers.

Only cell based servers support vPars, except the old N4000 and L3000 servers.

But all Integrity servers support HPVM (virtual machines).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: nPar/Vpar servers.

jeevarajis, you can do a quick check with the command #parstatus:

if you get output of the cells, like:

[Complex]
Complex Name : SD1
Complex Capacity
Compute Cabinet (8 cell capable) : 2
.......
etc
......

you have a cell based server.

If you get something like:

/root# parstatus
Note: No action specified. Default behavior is display all.
CIM_ERR_NOT_SUPPORTED: HPNPAR31:@31:The system is not using a compatible version of IPMI. The nPartition Provider supports IPMI 1.5.[The system () is using IPMI 1.0]
Note: Unable to get any HP_NParComplex information

then no luck.

Re: nPar/Vpar servers.

Jeev, cell based servers have cells with CPUs and memory on it (imagine a blade, but several "blades"/cells can form a single physical machine). A cell based server can have up to 16 cells.
Examples:

rp74xx (except rp7400)
rp84xx
rx76xx
rx74xx
Superdome

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
