npar reconfigue cpu & mem

hello~!
I want to re-configure CPU's/Memory in 2nPar's on an rx7620.

The current setup is as follows:
nPar 0 : 8xCPU, 12GB RAM
nPar 1 : 8xCPU, 12GB RAM

Cell Information :
cell 0 : hpux 11.23(DEV)
cell 1 : hpux 11.23(WEB)

I whould like the following Configuration :
nPar 0 : 16xCPU, 24GB RAM
nPar 1 : idle(1~2month)

What is the best way to re-allocation of resources??

Re: npar reconfigue cpu & mem

Hi Mark:

Each cell takes 4 sockets (4 CPU - 8 CPU dual-core) reason why if you want to put 16 CPUs on one npar you will need to remove the nPar1 add the 2├В┬║ cell board to nPar0.

parremove -p1 (- F if active)
parmodify -p0 -a1

And Reboot to reconfig.

Re: npar reconfigue cpu & mem

The only way to do this is to *delete* the nPar1 (parremove) and add the cell to nPar0 (parmodify), because 16 CPUs are already the maximum for your system.
Take care of the disks connected to nPar1, they will be connected to nPar0 then.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: npar reconfigue cpu & mem

You need to delete the nPar1 to make it "unused". Only if the cell is not in use you can add it to another partition. The boot disk will be unchanged. If you create the nPar1 again, you will be able to boot it again.
Take care and don't touch the disks while they belong to nPar0.

Hope this helps!

Re: npar reconfigue cpu & mem

Another way of doing this is to execute CC command at MP:CM>

This will erase complex config and recreate the complex so while defining you can create npar with cell0 and later add the other cell 1 also in this npar0 using parmodify command.
