npar1 no see internal disk

Hi

I have a rx8640 with 2 cells and 2 npars. The first npar boot and its ok. I want to boot the second one with mirror disk from the first. I take out from its place and plug physically under the other one, but I dont see in EFI.
Any ideas?

thanks in advance, Jorge

Re: npar1 no see internal disk

The statements are confusing.
Could you please explain it once again?
Which and all the bays are you using?

are you sure the bay which you are plug in is an I/O which is a part of Npar2?

Re: npar1 no see internal disk

Hi

Ok, it sounds very rare, I post the output of parstatus -C:

[Cell]
CPU Memory Use
OK/ (GB) Core On
Hardware Actual Deconf/ OK/ Cell Next Par
Location Usage Max Deconf Connected To Capable Boot Num
========== ============ ======= ========= =================== ======= ==== ===
cab0,cell0 Active Core 8/0/8 96.0/0.0 cab0,bay0,chassis0 yes yes 0
cab0,cell1 Active Core 8/0/8 32.0/0.0 cab0,bay0,chassis1 yes yes 1
cab0,cell2 Absent * - - - - - -
cab0,cell3 Absent * - - - - - -

Notes: * = Cell has no interleaved memory.

Re: npar1 no see internal disk

Hi

Any ideas why I dont see any boot options from EFI? I dont see any lan card, FC Card, internal disk...?

Re: npar1 no see internal disk

Boot options are stored in NVRAM, not on disk.

EFI> reconnect -r

EFI> map -r

Can you see the disk now?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: npar1 no see internal disk

I know this is a very basic question but do you have a second (lower, slot1) core i/o card in the back of the server? This would allow the disk from the bottom disk bays to connect to cell1.

Re: npar1 no see internal disk

sounds like you never mirrored it correctly

Perhaps try using DRD as a better method

Re: npar1 no see internal disk

Hi

Thanks for your replies.
I dont have the second Core I/O in rx8640, It coulb be basic, but I dont have idea because from first one I can select partition, and i Thought the second one is backup... but like say TTR, is could be the question. Thanks!

Like you told me, Torsten, If I do a reconnect -r or map, I dont see anything.

The Mirror its OK, because I boot with this disk.

Thanks for all.

Re: npar1 no see internal disk

Hi ,

These are your internal disk hardware path for cell1

1/0/0/2/0.6.0
Internal disk
Disk bottom left slot (server front)

1/0/0/3/0.6.0
Internal disk
Disk bottom right slot (server front)

Are you sure you have inserted in these?

while you boot Npar 1( cell 1), what output it shows at

Shell> map -r
shell> drivers
