Re: orca and npar

I thought orca's were bigger than two or four cells. I mean they are black and white and eat seals and swim quite well.

The first steps are to have a fully documented system.

What you want to do is reduce an npar and then create anew npar? This means you have to have enought IO cards, do you?

Re: orca and npar

thank you harry...
yes, that's correct... i need to reduce my npar and create a new partition.
current config are:
[Cell]

CPU Memory Use
OK/ (GB) Core On
Hardware Actual Deconf/ OK/ Cell Next Par
Location Usage Max Deconf Conntected To Capable Boot Num
======== ====== ========== ========= ============== ========= ===== =====
cab0,cell0 Active Core 4/0/8 8.0/0.0 cab0,bay1,chassis3 yes yes 0
cab0,cell2 Active Base 4/0/8 8.0/0.0 cab0,bay0,chassis1 yes yes 0

Notes: * = Cell has no interleaved memory.

[Chassis]
Core Connected Par
Hardware Location Usage IO To Num
================== ============ ==== =========== ===
cab0,bay0,chassis1 Active yes cab0,cell2 0

[Chassis]
Core Connected Par
Hardware Location Usage IO To Num
================== ============ ==== =========== ===
cab0,bay1,chassis3 Active yes cab0,cell0 0

thanks again!

Re: orca and npar

here's what i have planned so far:
# parmodify -p0 -d2 -B
# shutdown -R y 0

# parstatus -AC
# parcreate -c2:base:y:ri

# parmodify -p1 -P "hostname05"
# parmodify -p1 -r0/2
then modify the boot path with -b option.

is that all?
or does the same work with itanium based servers?

Thanks again!!
