Previously I have RP8400/7410, currently in iddle condition after a migration, and I'm just realize in the iddle condition it's consume more than 3000 VA.
It's shown using MP>CM>PS
HW status for rp8400 cabinet : NO FAILURE DETECTED
Total Power Available 5000 VA
Total Power Needed 3246 VA
Power Redundancy : redundant
Power Viability : viable
I just want to ask, how to find the current power consuption/ power usage of itanium server. I have RX7640, RX6600 and RX3600. I can't find the menu from MP>CM.
It's very important now as our datacenter have very limited power supply, but we still want to use these old server for testing / development purpose, I'll compare it with those new generation server. Which one better, buy new one or using the old but pay more for power :)
Thanks,

Re: power usage of HP itanium server
The command PS is available gor all theses servers as well.
MP>CM>PS will give you the outputs. Didn't you try this in the servers?
Also please note that the power consumption will vary time to time and system to system according to the configuration and load.

Re: power usage of HP itanium server
Example (rx6600):
MP:CM> ps
PS
For System Processor Status see the SS command.
System Power state: On
System Power usage: 546 Watts
Temperature : Normal
...
from a rx8620 (should be similar to yours)
PS -> select cabinet
...
Total Power Available 6000 VA
Total Power Needed 4172 VA
Power Redundancy : redundant
Power Viability : viable
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Power Supply 0 Normal
Power Supply 1 Normal

MP:CM> ps
PS
For System Processor Status see the SS command.
System Power state: On
System Power usage: 364 Watts

I would check if the firmware is up-to-date.
MP:CM> sysrev
Hope this helps!

SolutionGet the new firmware (either patch, ISO or EFI file), restart the server, update and boot again.

Re: power usage of HP itanium server
This could be easier in the long run, rather than mucking about upgrading firmware only to decide that the beasties draw too much power anyway.
Doesn't get the data from within the system console, but gives a result.
