re: resetting admin password on MP console [rx2600]

We have an rx2600 and we can not get past the MP login as the password is no longer recognised. Is it possible to reset the password or does the MP console have to be reset?

Have you tried to login through a console directly connected to the RS232 connector of MP. I think, not sure :-(, that you can log, even without password.

the solution is to connect to the console directly via a serial connection and then reset the MP (hold down the MP reset button for at least 4-5 seconds).

You will be prompted to clear the passwords - hit the 'P' key and then hit 'Y' to confirm.

The passwords will be reset to the defaults (Admin/Admin & Oper/Oper).

You may find that some other settings will be reset as well - ip address, etc.
