Junaid,

the OpenVMS system has halted, if the console prints this message. You just don't get to see the '>>>' prompt as you may be used to on an Alpha.

If you want to power-off the rx3600, type CTRL-B to get to the MP Main Menue -> CM -> PC -OFF

Re: rx 3600 system

yes in case of Alpha it happens ,but in Integrity server Rx3600 it display the same prompt, but also ask for restart.Actually we needed this for taking the standalone backup as we do in vax system. At boot prompt we boot the system through other harddisk on whicjh we hae the stand alone kit and then take the image backup

Re: rx 3600 system

Junaid,

just hit any key, the system will then init and - after some time - enter the EFI Boot Manager Menue. From that, it will automatically boot the first entry after a specificed timeout. During that time (time counting down) hit cursor down, this will stop the timeout. You can then select the DVD drive (or the hard disk) to boot standalone backup from.

Re: rx 3600 system

something to try: select "reboot" when you shut down, and set your EFI boot menu to not time out; to not select the first entry and boot it when the timer expires.

You might be able to get at some of this with the boot_options.com stuff, or bcfg directly, too. Either with the timeout option, or by moving the EFI shell or (better) the conversational bootstrap boot alias to the front of the list (and with the EFI menu timer enabled). In the latter case, you could largely automate the selection of the boot root, and not have to mess around at the console.
