rx 7620 server booting message error
I need your assistance please for the following request: one of our customers (Diamond Bank) has one server rx7620 with a single partition and 2 internal disks. He needs to add 2 additional disks and set RAID1 configuration on the 4 disks (2 disks mirrored on the 2 other disks) and install HP-UX 11.23.
Only the Primary MP core I/O board set (MP/SCSI slot 1 and Lan/SCSI slot 8, chassis 1) was installed on the server
However, without the secondary MP/SCSI board, only two internal disks can be accessed.
To activate 4 internal disks we need to install 2 Core I/O.
Today I installed the second Core I/O board set (MP/SCSI slot 0 and Lan/SCSI slot 1, chassis 0), and then the 2 new disks 146 GB
I launched the server and I had this error (Booting screen.txt attached):
MCA EVENT occurred : SAL error processing
Logging XBC Errors ....
Size of XBC Errors : 0x0
Complete
Finish the Error Event Logging ....
Complete
Flush the cpu cache ....
Complete
ReEnabling CPU Poison Check ....
Complete
Unable to handoff: OS_MCA handler not registered.
sequencer: The MCA was NOT corrected. A cold boot is required.
Then Attention Led Blinking Orange
Fault led Blinking Red
Thank you for your help and I attached also some information from MP (Rx7620 Diamond bank information.txt), I wish it can help,
My problem now I canтАЩt get the 10 seconds to interrupt the boot and log in EFI to install hpux 11.23 from the dvd.

Re: rx 7620 server booting message error
You need 2 cells and 2 sets of core I/O.
Regarding the boot interruption:
Perhaps the boot delay is set to 0 sec.
Easy method: Pull the boot disks. The system won't find a boot device and will get into EFI.
BTW, no attachement ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: rx 7620 server booting message error
The cards have different firmware - this could be a problem too:
Core IO
Primary: A.007.008
Event Dict. : 1.015
Secondary: A.008.005
Event Dict. : 1.020
Did you insert the MP with power on?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: rx 7620 server booting message error
no i inserted the mp with power off.
you are genius :)
i unplugged the core I/O from the server.but i had the same message, so what i did is i replaced the slot where the LAN/SCSI was installed by a network card , so the server did not search for the core LAN/SCSI firmware.
and the problem is solved.
now how can i install it again to activate the 4 disks without getting a problem?

Re: rx 7620 server booting message error
It is better to insert the new MP when power is on (OS down), because that way they can synchronize their settings, e.g. the complex profile.
Consider to get the firmware updated, this will probably help.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: rx 7620 server booting message error
There is a special process to update the firmware of this server.
You will find the package on
http://www.hp.com/go/bsc
But be carefull, if you not follow all the instructions, you can seriously damage your system.
In case of any doubt contact HP support.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
