rx2600 Integrity 1.4G/1m to 1.3G/3m cpu upgrade

just installed a 1.3Ghz/3m cpu into an RX2600 that formally ran the 1.4G/1m proc and I keep getting an immediate system error preventing server from even booting...

doesn't the MB recognize the CPU automatically or is there a MB setting?

sorry, first ever RX2600 Itanium

Re: rx2600 Integrity 1.4G/1m to 1.3G/3m cpu upgrade

Assuming you are not mixing different types of CPUs in the box.

I guess there is a change/workaround when you move back from processors having p/n starting with AB ( in this case 1.4GHz/1.5MB - AB617-62010 ) to old type processors ( 1.3GHz/3MB p/n A9666-67010 )
It might require some setting on system board.

Place a h/w call with HP Support to know the details of the same.

By the way, what's the exact system error you are getting?

Let's us know the result.

no, running in sigle cpu config.

am sorry, but isn't the 1.3 the newer cpu?

mem. errors at first, but reseating seemed to help.

I think you have one of the latest server model AB324A as it is having 1.4GHZ/1.5MB processor.

Take a look at this document and you would see the processor generations of this server.
