Re: rx2600, OS rebooting by itself

Hi,

I can only find that a "soft-reset" occured - but not why it occured.

Is this a new setup that you have configured recently, or is it a machine that has been running in its current config for a long time (ie, same H/W and same OS) which has suddenly had problems?

Which slot is your disk in?

Are you using the correct OS version for the Itanium Platform?

Regards,
Phil

Re: rx2600, OS rebooting by itself

Hi Kanti,

Good Question (Phil):-
>>> Is this a new setup that you have configured recently, or is it a machine that has been running in its current config for a long time (ie, same H/W and same OS) which has suddenly had problems?
==> Because I have go through Ur system previous MP event log I have find out only one time system boot up (10 Nov 2007 22:14:34), then recent MP log analysis report U have try to 18 times system boot_up.

>>> Which slot is your disk in?
==> Ur system disk is plug disk 0 & 1 or disk 2 & 3, please confirm?

>>> Are you using the correct OS version for the Itanium Platform?
==> Four Operating System support: HP UX 11i version 2 (September 2006 Update required for dual core processors); HP-UX 11i version 3; Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition; Linux RHEL 4 U4 AS and ES, and SLES 10; OpenVMS (V8.3 minimum version required), Which one U try to install in Ur system.

==> Before OS install U configure system Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) host bus adapter, because without this U can not install any OS.

Re: rx2600, OS rebooting by itself

We have installed Windows 2003 on it very long time back (about 6 months ago), it was working fine as per the user who used that box.

But the box is not used/touched by any user from the past 2 months.

No hardware modifications done to this box.

There are 2 SCSI disks (36GB 320 15K) in that box, one is in slot 0 and another is in slot 1 . Slot 2 is empty.

Re: rx2600, OS rebooting by itself

U should check Ur controller card (SCSI Ultra320), if possible U change this card & try to install OS.

Re: rx2600, OS rebooting by itself

I have removed the existing two disks and inserted a new disk in slot 0, and I tried to install 11i v2. The installation simply hangs.

Re: rx2600, OS rebooting by itself

Hi,

Are you sure that it hangs...or is the "console" being re-directed elsewhere.

Have you checked any console settings since you started recently using it?

Perhaps it keeps re-setting with windows because of a console path.

What are you using now...VGA, Terminal etc?
