rx2600 date and time reset

hi guys,

i have a rx2600 running with redhat v4 facing a problem with system date,once the machine is shutdown completely the system time is showing the factory setting date which is 1/1/1998.i tried to set the date back using the efi shell but still the same once its being shutdown.Upon booting up it shows

warning 1 invalid real time date cleared
warning 48 SAL NVM cleared
warning 49 EFI NVM cleared

once the above message comes out the date is set to the default setting..is it because of the system board battery is causing all this problem or is there anything else could be causing thiis problem?

did you check the battery?? Also of EFI, you need to set the date in GMT.

Hi Raj, Check the status of the battery in the mother board and set time in MP prompt. Check this page for setting the date, http://docs.hp.com/en/AB331-90005-en/ch04s03.html

Also, it nothing works, log a call with HP support.

how do i check this battery status?how do i set it in gmt time zone?in linux also do i nee to use ^b to access to mp mode?

im new to rx servers....

Logon to MP. do sl, it should show the errors if any. I do not know if battery staus will be shown there or not.

Setting the time GMT is done as follows.
TIME
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Read or set the real time clock in GMT.

Syntax:

TIme

Shortcut: ti

Location:

This command resides in the INFORMATION menu of a multi-level user interface.

Parameters:

[c:y:m:d:h:m:[s]] GMT values.

Valid GMT values:

cn century, 19-20

yr year, 0-99

mo month, 1-12

dy day of the month, 1-31

hr hour of the day, 0-23

mn minute, 0-59

ss second, 0-59

Dates through December 31, 23:59:59, 2069 are supported.

thx on the tips on the gmt but can i use the battery in n4000 to replace the rx battery?is there other servers battery is compatible with the rx system board batt?

Check battery voltage/current ratings. Replace only if they match.

battery seems to be fine cause i have switched the battery but the problem still persist....by the way how do i get into the MP from redhat?is there any solutions to my problem?
