Re: rx2600 date and time reset
Hi,
The "uninitialise hostname" message is OK and appears if the MP/iLO hostname is not set.The procedure given by RAC is for setting time and date from EFI configuration menu.
You can see the current date from MP using
MP > CM >DATE
This date should match with date set through EFI.
With MP installed in the rx2600 server , there are 2 button-batteries. One on MP card and another on system board. As per the messages during bootup , EFI is flashing those messages on account of invalid date. I hope you have changed the system board battery.
Did you set the time and date after replacing the system board battery? If not , follow doc given below and confirm
the battery is working OK.
http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000079777626
For reference about MP, EFI , rx2600 hardware , refer following docs.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00307512/c00307512.pdf
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00215121/c00215121.pdf
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpn04096/lpn04096.pdf
In the worst case , RTC chip on the system board would be bad. In that case you need to palce a h/w call to HP and get the board replaced.

Re: rx2600 date and time reset
hi sameer,
i have changed the battery on the system board and i changed the date and time using the efi but still the problem persist.I can go to the MP but i cant change the date, when i type CM its not going to the mp menu.
is it important that you set the date and time in MP and not efi?
thx

Re: rx2600 date and time reset
Hi Raj,
As I said before, you can only see the current date in MP > CM > DATE. There is no way to set date or time in MP. You can only set them through EFI.
As far as seeing "date" through MP is concerned, just connect to MP either through serial port or LAN console, log-on and you will get MP Main Menu and MP prompt
MP > CM
MP > CM > DATE
Take a look at System Event Log (SEL) and Forward Progress Log (FPL) in "text mode" using
MP > SL
Check if you see any event log related to RTC or date/time.
Refer the docs given in my last post as well.
Now assuming the battery is good and installed properly , then problem could be with RTC on the system board. Log a h/w call to HP and get the board replaced.
