rx3600 SAS disc status LEDs

The disc activity LEDs of my rx3600's two hot-plug drives continually flicker rapidly. This happens once the EFI is booted. They also do the same thing when running under a Linux install kernel and pending any installation activity.

The only time these LEDs show solid green is during access to files on the discs or when issuing "reconnect -r". The status LEDs remain off.

I have no other Integrity machines for comparison, so was wondering if the seemingly continual disc access activity I am seeing is normal?

Dave.

Re: rx3600 SAS disc status LEDs

I think it's normal. Refer the document at
http://docs.hp.com/en/AB463-9003B/ch01s06.html where you would see
"Flickering green" status of activity LED is Normal operation; disk read or write activity. Moreover the actions you mentioned would definatly cause disk read/write activities.

pretty sure - LED is on while there is activity.

Hope this helps!

Re: rx3600 SAS disc status LEDs

Solid green is supposed to indicate "Normal operation; no activity". Yet this state is what shows for several seconds after issuing the 'sync' command - the opposite of what
I would have expected from the documentation.

However if this is what happens on other peoples' machines I'm not going to worry
about it.
