I have a rx3600 with hpux 11.23.
I get periodically a disk error in syslog(here is attached an EMS output).
I've made pathcment assessment. Also I have applied the last fw upgrate and now I have the following versions: System 01.32, BMC 05.07, and iLO2 MP F.01.41.
Thank you in advance.

SolutionCheck using sasmgr command.
What is the driver version (SerialSCSI-00 ) of the controller?
check using swlist command.

Re: rx3600 sas controller error
It's a known problem with the disk_em monitor and the SAS disk array on rx3600, rx6600 and rx2660. You can safely ignore those events for that device. The monitor should not be reporting events for the IR Volume, which is not a physical device.
You can hide the events by use of the disabled_instances file. See my response in http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=405726 for how to do this. The path you'll need in your case is /storage/events/disks/default/0_4_1_0.0.0.7.0
This will be fixed in a future patch.

Re: rx3600 sas controller error
Just get the firmware of the SAS controller upgraded to 1.16. The firmware and the update utility could be obtained from IPF diagnostics s/w available at

Re: rx3600 sas controller error
The fix will be in PHSS_35807 which is scheduled for release by the end of this month. Until then you can either ignore the events or use the work-around given of using disabled_instances.

Re: rx3600 sas controller error
Thank you for your help. I've installed the latest drivers and FW but the error remains.
I'll wait till the end of this month for the patch.
Thank you again.
Best regards,
Cristinel
