Re: rx4640 will not boot

Since the server was moved, I would first reseat the HBAs.

Hope this helps!

Re: rx4640 will not boot

Hi,

7 0 0x000098 0x000000000000000B Machine Check initiated

An MCA occured during boot if server was working fine before moving check all your pci cards installed as Trosten said better rest them.

if issue not solved then log has to be analysed by HP to confirm the issue. Log a case with HP.

Re: rx4640 will not boot

You might also check the MP Event Logs for any further clues.  Post them here if you wish:

MP --> SL --> E

Re: rx4640 will not boot

Are there more logs to show? Typically a single page is buffered on the screen, but more follow.

If this is it, then there isnt much to go on here.

Re: rx4640 will not boot

Try this to try and get a fresh log:

MP:CM> date - check the date and time for accuracy.

Back to the logs:
MP --> SL --> C clear the logs that exist.

Power reset the system and get as far as it will go.

Run the MP> SL, E again.

Re: rx4640 will not boot

Hi Warrren,

You might also need to generate an errdump file in the EFI shell for analysis.

Re: rx4640 will not boot

As advised, if you can get to the EFI Shell you can run the command:  errdump mca

Save this to your screen or forward to a file on an EFI disk partition.  This can be analyzed further to assist you.

However, I see the following entries:

18 SFW 0 2 0x5680029600E00240 0000000000000002 MC_PCI_BUS_ERROR_TYPE
30 Jun 2011 12:46:24
19 SFW 0 2 0x5680029700E00260 0000000000000020 MC_PCI_BUS_ID
30 Jun 2011 12:46:24
20 SFW 0 2 0x5680029900E00280 00000000FED22000 MC_PCI_BUS_RESPONDER_ID

This could be indicating that you have a PCI card that is causing you greif.  A quick thing to try is to remove all PCI cards to see if the system progresses.  Add 'em back one at a time to maybe narrow down the culprit.
