rx7640
One of our server rx7640 needs to be upgraded. Currently it is having 8 cpus and only one cell is installed. It has an option for one more cell. My question is if we put another cell can we install 8 more cpus and memory on this server?

Re: rx7640
Yes. CPUs must have the same type, so this will give you up to 8 (physical 4 dual-core) more CPUs. Same for memory.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: rx7640
The number of physical CPUs in a cell board is 4. As they are of dual core, you see 8 CPUs in OS.
The maximum memory a cell of 7640 can have is 64 GB (32 GB per cell board)

Re: rx7640
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12470_div/12470_div.pdf says for Product Number AB448A, the number of dual core Itanium processors are 4 (4P/8C).
One of our vendor also said the max number of processors a rx7640 can handle is 8. That is why the question is raised.
Please clarify.
The points would be assigned.

Re: rx7640
The maximum number of physical CPUs rx7640 can have is 8 (4 CPUs per cell board and 2 cell boards maximum). But you can see 16 CPUs in OS as each CPU is dual core.
Hope you are clarified.
