rx7640

Hi,

Can any one explain this to me?
rx7640
Is the allocation of CPU and Memory dynamic ? If yes, Could this dynamic allocation execute without shutdown of the system?

I had a customer ask me this but I am not sure as to what to say.

Thank you
Jon

Re: rx7640

Take a look at the rx7640 Quick Specs at
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12470_div/12470_div.pdf

There is mention of Dynamic nPars support in HPUX 11iv3 and more details.

Re: rx7640

What is meant by dynamic memory and CPU allocation is regarded to nPARs! and it's only supported on the sx2000 chipset based servers and HPUX 11i v3 and probably Windows as they support the Cell Local Memory feature, which allows you to create a partition with a floating cell and this floating cell becomes dynamic hence it can be moved from one partition to another as required and this change is done online without the need to reboot. you'll find a white paper about the subject in docs.hp.com
