serial port for UPS on rx6600

I am trying to configure the UPS monitoring deamon on my rx6600. When I go into SAM to do the configuration it only finds one serial port option. However, when the deamon trys to start is complains about the not finding a UPS on that port. On the back of my rx6600, I have only two db9 serial ports to choose from - one marked console, the other marked auxilary. I have tried both. Where am I gong wrong here?

ioscan tells me that these are available on my sytem.

You have 2 connectors on the back - the console and the "aux" port. "aux" is on h/w path 0/0/1/2.


But the question is different.

What daemon are you starting?

ups_mond?

What UPS model do you have?

Are you sure your UPS model is supported by this daemon?


For several UPS models you'll need other software than the "built-in" daemon ...

If you find your UPS model in this table, you'll need to disable the ups_mond and install the power manager software:

Yep, I have a R5500xr. I'll download and give it a try.

I have installed the program. However, during the install I am getting the following. Seems it may not be detecting the UPS any better than ups_mond was. I have moved the cable around and tried both ports on the back of the rx6600.

The install script said that it had shutdown ups_mond. However, it really had not. Got that shut down and I the install found the UPS and finished.
