specification - Array Accelerator Battery
Hi,
I need to change "array accelerator battery" of an HP RX2660 Itanium server.
Where can I get the specification of it? (I need to buy it).
I have to firstchange bad disks. Will I have any problem if I shutdown / reboot the machine without
changing this battery?

Re: specification - Array Accelerator Battery
Hi
What type of raid controller is that?
Is it onboard multi-port sas controller or an additional P400 controller?
sasmgr/sautil output should show the details of the controller.
Also how many "bad disks" are those? Data or OS? Is it part of Raid volume?
Again you really need not to shutdown server to replace those disks (if they are part of HW raid).
Thanks and Regards.

Re: specification - Array Accelerator Battery
Hi.
I have 2 bad disks from a raid 5 with spare disk (1 disk is bad and also the spare disk). I asked 2 weeks ago - see the
entry "doubt - replace disk - HPUX Itanium" from 2 weeks ago.
I received the disks only now. I could find only used disks.
Where | can get the specification of this battery? I need to buy it.
Can I continue to work with the server even if I do not replace the battery (in case I don'f find it)?

Re: specification - Array Accelerator Battery
Hi,
You can find the Battery pack part number in below link
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c00707372 (BBWC battery pack)
Refer below smart array guide and this should help you to understand more about the controller/battery.
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=null&docId=emr_na-c02011726
And regarding the drives, I beleive this is your boot logical drive (pls confirm).
If yes, and after backup - you may replace the disk(s) one by one online...starting with bay 8 and spare disk later.
Wait for logical drive to complete rebuilding after replacement (bay 8).

Re: specification - Array Accelerator Battery
Hi.
The replace of the disks worked (hot swap). Thank you.
Could not access the manuals you mentioned. (it returned an error that iI need a employee login).
What do I lose if I don't change this battery? I searched at web and it seems that in case of an external power loss
it won't safeguard cached data but the system works normally while the power is up. Is that correct?
Thank you for your help.

Re: specification - Array Accelerator Battery
Hi,
Not sure why the link asks for Employee login as its a public document.
Just search for "hpe p400 bbwc spare part" in google and that should take you to a public hpe document with spare parts list (or) please log a TRADE call with HPE and we can do the replacement.
Good that you were able to replace the disks successfully.
As you could see, your cache will be disabled until you replace the Battery and there might be a litltle performance degradation.

If its not that noticeable, you may wait for Battery repacement for a later time. However if the performance impact is too high, then consider changing the battery at the earliest.
I believe there is an option to change the cache settings to "No-Battery Write Cache" (check man page for saconfig/sautil)
And yes, unless there is a power loss there will be no impact on the cached data (again the cache is temporarily disabled now)
Thanks and Regards.
