sx2000 superdome

Hi,

The sx2000 superdome is new to us and I have a couple of questions.
1) Does the sx2000 superdome require a core I/O card in it.
2)The cables that plug into the backplane came in not connected. Can any one tell me the correct place they should be connected? I have 8 cables with these numbers 0/1 in 0/1 out 1/1 in 1/1 out 0/3 in 0/3 out 1/3 in 1/3 out. I see on the backplane there are in and out connectors for cell boards 0 thru 7. How do I connect these to make sure I can use all cell boards?
3) also if I am only going to be using 2 pci card cages what spot should I have them in?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Jon

Re: sx2000 superdome

Hi again Jon,

here are your answers:

1) no, the console device is on the cell

2) the blue cables? the blue cables connect the I/O chassis - you can decide what cell to connect to which I/O chassis

3) put the cage in a slot that is connected to a cell!

Help: to find out the connections you can use

MP:CM> io

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: sx2000 superdome

Regarding 2)

The I/O chassis locations are (bay/chassis) when you look at front or rear:

front left => 0/1
front right => 0/3

rear right => 1/3
rear left => 1/1

Now you know what cable pairs belong together and where they are connected. The pairs are keyed, so you cannot go wrong. Just connect the pairs to a cell of your choice.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: sx2000 superdome

Thanks for the info that helps a lot. Another question. This powered on once and nothing was changed but powered off and when I try to power it back on it does not. I get this error.
Alert level 7 Fatal
The server identification information does not match the cabinet type.

Also when I try and power it from the console I get this.
The cabinet power option is depleted. Please use the complex power option instead. Using the cabinet power option in a multi-cabinet complex is not supported.

I am only using one superdome.
Will this superdome work with only one power supply in the back? I have used one before in an sx1000 superdome and it works fine.

Thanks for your help.

Re: sx2000 superdome

You have only 1 cabinet, right?

What does

MP:CM> id

return?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: sx2000 superdome

The cabinet is configured to have up to 4 cells - how many cells do you have?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: sx2000 superdome

I have one cell in there now. I am only going to be using a total of 2 cells. When it powered up the first time it showed 1 cell installed and the other not there. I tried to do the cc command to make it only see one cell and to get rid of the other ones it thought it still had. But it would not let me do the cc command. And now it will not power up.

Thanks

Re: sx2000 superdome

IHMO th problem is here:

Keyword: CABINET_TYPE_MISMATCH
The server identification information does not match the cabinet type.
Reporting Entity: Management Processor located in cabinet 0

MP-modifiable server identification values:
Asset Tag :
Model String : 9000/800/SD32B
...
Creator Product Name : superdome server SD16B

SD16B vs. SD32B

Only HP can correct this, contact them!

BTW, you have old and a bit inconsistent firmware!

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
