unable to get mp console

Hi,
I am unable to get MP-console through telnet.It is giving below message.......

root@SAP#telnet 10.5.4.9
Trying...
Connected to 10.5.4.9.
Escape character is '^]'.

why it is getting like this any one help me

what model you are using ,
any how are you tried to reset the mp.

It looks like it is working fine.
Have you typed control-B to talk to the MP?

By The Way I agree with Dennis 's comment , did you break to enter with Control-B ?
