My friend told me that nickel is used to take the configuration of whole HP-UX in html format, is it right?
1)How to get the nickel?
2)is it coming by default with HP-UX os?
3)is it free?

Re: what is the purpose of "nickel"
It is absolutely free. But I dont think you will get it from any public sites.
You can find a copy of nickel attached herewith.

Re: what is the purpose of "nickel"
1. Transfer the file to the HP-UX host using ftp binary mode (ftp> bin) preferably to /tmp
2. In server,
# cd /tmp
# sh nickel.shar
# /opt/contrib/bin/nickel (run this command )
A file nickel.
3. ftp this file back to you PC (again in binary mode) and extract it. In the extracted folder, open 'index.html' and this is the hompage.

SolutionNICKEL stands for-Network related Information Collector, Keeper and Elaborator.
Its most commonly used tool for collecting all the information of a server like (syslog/eventlog/dmesg/parstatus/cstm/ etc). You can find evrythin from the index after extracting the .tar format of it. U can work on according to the attached docs way.

Re: what is the purpose of "nickel"
Hello,
"nickel" is a HP support diagnostic machine inventory suite similar to "sysinfo" but "nickel" provide the output in HTML format and you can easly read and check all the details of your OS, H/W, Services, Cluster etc.. in HTML format.
Yes, nicke is default service with HP-UX.
You can check run "nicke" from "/tmp/nickel" location or you can find with the help of this cmd "find / -name nickel".
