the server model is rx2620, and following is the board inventory. Where I can find the information on what are next slopts I can or should use? Appreciate your help.

Next memory quad goes into 2A/2B and 3A/3B.

Hope this helps!

Re: what slots I should put in for adding 4x2gb dimms RAM?

Hi,

Load the first pair of  DIMMs  in the slots labeled DIMM0A and DIMM0B and  Load the second pair in the slots labeled DIMM1A and DIMM1B.

Example: 0A-0B, 1A-1B, 2A-2B,3A-3B,.....5A-5B

Rx2620 server has 12 memory sockets for installing DDR SDRAM memory DIMMs. The supported DIMM sizes are 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, or 4 GB. The server supports combinations from 1 GB up to 32 GB. See

Supported DIMM Sizes:

Supported DIMM sizes are 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, and 4 GB. Memory in the server is installed in quads. A quad of memory is a set of four matching DIMMs. Quad sizes may differ within the server as long as
all DIMMs within a quad match, unless you are installing 4 GB DIMMs. The only set up allowed with 4 GB DIMMs is to install eight 4 GB DIMMs. The server supports combinations from 1 GB (using 256 MB DIMMs)
to 32 GB (using eight 4 GB DIMMs).

Memory Configuration:

The HP Integrity rx2620 supports DDR (double data rate) SyncDRAM (synchronous dynamic random access memory) DIMMs with ECC and chip spare protection. The HP Integrity rx2620 has twelve DIMM slots. A maximum of 32-GB is supported.

Memory Loading Rules and Performance Guidelines:

  • Memory must be installed in groups of four DIMMs, also known as quads
  •  Each quad must consist of equal density DIMMs
  • Memory can be ordered in quads of 1-GB (4×256-MB), 2-GB (4×512-MB), 4-GB (4×1-GB), 8-GB (4×2-GB), or 16-GB (4×4-GB) DIMMs
  • Minimum memory is 1-GB (4×256-MB)
  • Maximum memory is 32-GB (8×4-GB).
  • Memory must be loaded in the specific order outlined on the system board.
  • Each quad of memory is loaded across both memory buses (two DIMMs on each bus) to ensure maximum bandwidth and performance
  • Total memory bandwidth is 8.5-GB/s, split across two 4.25-GB/s memory buses
  • Open page memory latency is 80 nanoseconds

NOTE: Please note that these memory option product numbers are also supported in the rx2600.

Supported Memory Options:

1-GB chip spare PC2100 DDR-SDRAM memory quad (4 x 256MB DIMMs) -  AB395A

2-GB chip spare PC2100 DDR-SDRAM memory quad (4 x 512MB DIMMs) -  AB396A

4-GB chip spare PC2100 DDR-SDRAM memory quad (4 x 1GB DIMMs)      - AB397A

8-GB chip spare PC2100 DDR-SDRAM memory quad (4 x 2GB DIMMs)     -  AB228A

16 GB chip spare PC2100 DDR SDRAM memory quad (4 x 4-GB DIMMs)  -  AB475A

Re: what slots I should put in for adding 4x2gb dimms RAM?

After I put DIMM's in, what commands I should use to check, or to take the effect if there is any. Do I need to do that in EFI level, if yes, what commands?

Thanks!

Re: what slots I should put in for adding 4x2gb dimms RAM?

Hi Hanry,

After the  memory installation, Please check the memory module status  using info mem  efi shell command

EFI Command:info mem

Example:

EFI Shell> info mem
MEMORY INFORMATION
Extender 0:
---- DIMM A ----- ---- DIMM B ----- ---- DIMM C ----- ---- DIMM D -----
DIMM Current DIMM Current DIMM Current DIMM Current
--- ------ ---------- ------ ---------- ------ ---------- ------ ----------
0 256MB Active 256MB Active 256MB Active 256MB Active
1 256MB Active 256MB Active 256MB Active 256MB Active
2 ---- ---- ---- ----
3 ---- ---- ---- ----
4 ---- ---- ---- ----
5 ---- ---- ---- ----
Active Memory : 2048 MB
Installed Memory : 2048 MB

Or

You can check the status in OS ( If you are using HPUX, CSTM will help to identify the memory module status)
