Connected Manufacturing: 5 Must-See Demos at Industry of Things World Berlin
Thorsten Milsmann
Engagement Director, Global Manufacturing, Automotive and IoT
We’re just a few days out from Industry of Things World, coming up September 23–25 in Berlin, and we’re excited about the many HPE activities we’ve planned for the event. We’ll be at Booth 13 – stop by and say hi! Check out Juliane Steinacker’s post Learn IoT Success from Base to Summit for information on our keynote session, Icebreaker Session talk, and World Café presentation. For this post, we have some new info to share about the demos we’ll be presenting with our partners:
Quality assurance with video analytics. Human eyes are not designed to see everything – just what the brain deems important – and as the complexity of products rises humans find it increasingly hard to spot issues. Machines don’t have the same limitations, though. HPE and Relimetrics will demonstrate how manufacturers can leverage video streaming, edge-based machine learning and object recognition to accelerate and improve QA processes. We’ll show you how it all works, from data acquisition to data processing, to machine learning, to data mining and analytics.
(By the way, for a quick intro to video analytics in QA, see Steve Fearn’s blog and video interview IoT video analytics & quality control at the edge, based on a demo at HPE Discover earlier this year. Steve is Chief Technologist with HPE Pointnext.)
Predictive maintenance with Vuforia augmented reality. HPE and PTC show you how an AR experience can recognize a device – in this case a hydraulic power unit – and overlay digital information for maintenance purposes. The experience then walks the user through step-by-step work instructions to assemble or disassemble part of the unit. This is a great opportunity to experience how physical-digital convergence transforms engineering, development, manufacturing operations, service, and sales/marketing.
Industrial worker safety. We’ll showcase a solution from Guardhat that safeguards workers and contractors in a variety of use cases, including protection of lone workers or a mobile workforce; protection at static sites, such as refineries or steel mills; and at dynamic sites such as construction areas or land rigs. Learn how the solution leverages HPE compute, storage, and networking as well as HPE Pointnext services.
Hyper-connected car. With HPE partner IAV, we’ll demonstrate car data monetization through blockchain; emotions recognition with a software solution from Bleenco; remote vehicle diagnostics services; and swarm intelligence, for example around weather conditions.
Finally, the HPE/Accenture alliance will be presenting a video, slides, and a breakout.
We hope to see you in Berlin!
