How ready is your company for IoT? Find out in 5 minutes

IoT_readiness_assessment_sm.jpgIt’s here – the massive transformational impact of the Internet of Things is just beginning, and it’s hard to grasp how enormous its impact will be. The worldwide count of IoT devices in operational deployments will exceed 28 billion by 2020, with a compound annual growth rate of 17.5 percent between 2016 and 2020, according to global market intelligence firm IDC.1 Fully 85 percent of companies will have adopted IoT technology by 2019, according to research from Aruba Networks, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company.2

No organization can afford to ignore a transformation wave of this magnitude, and businesses are stepping up their efforts to create an IoT strategy that future-proofs the enterprise, avoids throw-away investments and protects against security risks.

Is your organization an IoT Rookie, Amateur, Pro, or All-Star?

Is your company keeping pace? Here’s a great way to find out. Take five minutes or so to complete the 2020 IoT Readiness Indicator survey, brought to you by HPE and IDC, to evaluate your organization’s readiness to implement an IoT strategy. The survey takes you through the four major building blocks of any IoT approach:

  1. Vision, goals and drivers. A tight tie-in to your overarching business strategy is a must. What are your key drivers for IoT investments? What metrics will you apply to determine your success?
  2. The right mix of infrastructure. How will you support your IoT initiative? Traditional IT, public cloud, private cloud, or a combination? What about related technologies – development automation tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible? Containers?
  3. Data types and use. What types of data are you capturing? When and how do you analyze them? Are cognitive/machine learning technologies currently in production, or planned?
  4. Data governance and control. What security policies and procedures have you adopted around IoT? Where will your IoT apps, data, and device control reside – at the core or at the Edge?

After completing the survey, you’ll receive a custom report with benchmarks that enable you to compare your IoT business and IT infrastructure readiness with other companies across a variety of dimensions, including geographic region, organization size, and industry. The report also includes essential guidance for improving your readiness level across all four of the building blocks above.
