2824 Routing issues

Hello, I am trying to use the 2824 as a router, but not having much luck. The config is attached. There are only 2 relevant VLANS; 1 & 90.  I have port 1 set up on VLAN 90 and only one machine attached ( From this machine I can ping either interface ( & but can not ping anything else on the network. Can someone please tell me what I am missing?

Thanks - John

Re: 2824 Routing issues

Are you sure the computers in are able to find its way back to your network?

SInce you're not using any dyanmic routing protocol you'll have to manually specify that the network is routed via, probably from the machine that is acting gateway for the other clients (

edit: also, i think that ip default-gateway is only used when the switch is not in routing mode, when its routing you'll have to use ip route for the default gateway.

Re: 2824 Routing issues

Hi John

What is the default gateway for the devices in Vlan 1 ?

For now I am assuming it is

Does the device have a route pointing to network via ? If nto it should have one :).

Re: 2824 Routing issues

Oh, DUH. What was I thinking??! Yes, that is most likely the issue. You are both correct. The 0.50 machine is the gateway. I will make changes to get a path back to VLAN 90 and I am sure that will fix the issue.

Thanks to you both for answering my question. - John
