3com 4400 PWR (3C17205) How do I put this in layer 2 mode?

Again, I have a 3com 4400 PWR (3C17205) and I want to put it in stupid-mode (where it just forwards packets) and I cannot do this.  I tried the gettingStarted script, and I've tried the pro > IP > basicConfig scripts to default the box but while I can ping just fine from the box, nothing that's plugged into it gets DHCP addresses etc...
