Can anyone tell me if managing and configuring a HP 12000,5800,5900,5100 and 3800 are similar

I am interested knowing if anyone know the fastest way or simpliest way to manage these switches and are they similiar to configuring a cisco switch using CLI commands

I am in the process of doing CCNA/CCNP and wanted to know do they use same commands

Apart from Aruba 3800 which is ArubaOS-Switch (the new name of well known ProVision) operating system based and HP A5100 which is quite old, all others you cited are Comware operating system based...Comware, exactly like ArubaOS-Switch, provides CLI.

So are you saying that if i learn Comware v5/v7 i can manage all the HP switches i mentioned above except the older 3800.

Also because i am new to learning the Comware its probably better to use the GUI correct? Also what are the commonly used commands to enable and disable ports on these switches

Aruba 3800 is not old. The old one is the HP A5100 EI/SI (I believe they ran on Comware v3).

Actually some basic common v5/v7 Comware CLI commands (like display) were featured also on ArubaOS-Switch (this happened years ago, at the time of old ProVision on HP ProCurve) to help Comware administrators to familiarize with ProVision CLI style.

The point is that you have to learn Comware v5/v7 and then you can do comparisons with Cisco IOS (or viceversa).

Also do you have a link to show how to learn this comware basic administration. Such as enable and disabling ports in Comware vs Aruba and showing VLans
