Can't ping hpe 5130 switch although it is on the network

Hi people,

have set an IP address on the management vlan of the switch however I can't ping it. (It is connected to the network and has a device attached to it which gets an Ip address on the default vlan) I couldn't find a command to set the default gateway for the management vlan. (as in HP switches)  so that's probably why.

Any ideas on that ?

I you want to configure a default gateway, you have to create a static route:

ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <your default gateway>

Re: Can't ping hpe 5130 switch although it is on the network

Hi Thanks,

I have created the static route: So the configuration looks like so:

Vlan 1128

name management

ip-subnet-vlan 0 ip 172.26.128.90 255.255.255.0

ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 172.26.128.1

The uplink to the network is on a trunk port allowing all vlans

G 1/0/18

Port link-type trunk

Vlan passing: 1, 101-102 107, 898, 1128-1129, 1134, 2624

Vlan permitted: 1, 2-4094

other Vlans which have connectivity

vlan 101

name admin

Port g 0/1/17 is an access port on vlan 101 and is getting an IP address and has connectivity.

I can’t ping the default gateway from the switch though

Ping 172.26.128.1 gets a request timeout.

Re: Can't ping hpe 5130 switch although it is on the network

hello

Execute follwowing command:

vlan 1128
undo ip-subnet-vlan 0
quit
interface vlan 1128
ip address 172.26.128.90 255.255.255.0
quit

You need to configure ip adresses in vlan interfaces.
