Can MiirorDisk/UX be installed onto 11i ??

Hi,

I am receiving the following error from swinstall, during its 'analysis' phase, during our attempted installation of MirrorDisk/UX.

The prerequisite
"LVM.LVM-RUN,r>=B.11.00.%23,a=HP-UX_B.11.00_32/64,fa=HP-UX_B.11.
for fileset "LVM.LVM-MIRROR-RUN,r=B.11.00" cannot be
successfully resolved.
ERROR: The dependencies for fileset "LVM.LVM-MIRROR-RUN,r=B.11.00"
cannot be resolved (see previous lines).
You must resolve the above dependencies before operating on
this fileset or change the "enforce_dependencies" option to
"false".

The application CD is from June 2003 and is labeled HP-UX 11.0, but I thought that it could be installed onto 11i anyway.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this?

It looks like your trying to install a 11.0 version of MirrorDisk. You need to use the 11i version off your 11i application CDs.

Sorry - you knew that.

It might work but you're going to need to change swinstall options to "allow incompatible software".

Hi Randy,

No you can't install 11.0 Mirror-UX on an 11.11 system.
There is a separate 11.11 Mirror-UX bundle for the 11i OS.
But check you OE level because the Enterprise OE and the Mission Critical OE both have Mirror-UX bundled w/in them.

Your answers may be clearing some of my confusion...

But ... when I go to the Software Update Manager (SUM) to order software, even though I can order HP-UX 11.11 OE CD's, I am only given the option to order 11.0 application software. Do I need to purchase another license of MirrorDisc to run on 11.11 ... I hope not! I'd be really disappointed.

Well - IF you have SW support with HP that generally includes the OS upgrade.
So you'd just need to upgrade the OS to 11i & they should give you a new 11i Mirror-UX license with that I'd think.

Hi Randy

If you have mirrordisk on your support agreement with "LTU" you should be able to get it.

You might need your original "hp order number". I recommend you contact HP if its lost. You need to get the 11i application cd's though.

FYI,

The solution,ultimately turned out to be an incorrect version of MirrorDisk. It seems that the CD's I had are for 11.0 only. So I had to go to the Software Update Manager and download a version for 11.11, which after some hassle with trying to find out how to install it and such ... worked!
