Cannot boot the server even after fresh installation

Hai ,

I have 9000 server , i had installed the server

but i am getting the following error

" exec failed , could not open /stand/vmunix"

Then i tried in ISL prompt by following

commands:

PDC> bo

in this stage , i am getting the above

mentioned error.

I had decided to execute the following command

from ISL prompt

ISL> hpux -lm

Still we are getting same errors and not

capable of make server to boot.



Pls revert as soon as possible , because our

production system is down.

Looks like your kernel is not there.
Try

ISL> hpux ls

to sea the content of /stand.

Try to boot vmunix.prev if the previous kernel is there.

Have you tried the command sea to search for bootable devices?

Since sea will only show you devices of which the system is capable of booting you might wanna try "sea ipl" as well.
This will show devices which actually are bootable.

How did you install the server ?
Cold install with media, ignite ?

You can also try to use Recovery console to check if your /stand filesystem contains the kernel or find out if it is possibly corrupt.

The Recovery console can be entered either when booting from ignite server or from installation CD.

Tried boot from backup kernel also

Server still shows cannot exec the /stand/vmunix.prev

What install media release?
What destination disk?

I found that hard drive has Bad sectors


Tried for installation in another HDD


Now it's booting fine.
