Configure New Disk

Hello Experts

My Server Model :- rp4440
OS = HP-UX 11.23

Our Storage team is assigning new Luns to server & they are provideing just Lun ID & Size.

My question is how i can see that which lun they have assigened to system
I know ioscan & insf but i want to see that specific lun only through lun id.

You can calculate the LUN ID from hardware path.

But for each array there are special tools to get such information ... e.g. xpinfo for XP and evainfo for EVA.

we have also hitachi USP-V = XP24000,

if you have xpinfo, you will be able to get this info.

We are having hitachi AMS200.., I know that we can use xpinfo in XP array, but storage is providing Lun ID only.

in XP we can use xpinfo with CU:LDEV number, Could you suggest any thing like xpinfo for this kind ?

If I can check H/W path than I can also see device path from ioscan -fnH

I don't want to use ioscan, if there are thousand of disks present in system i m gone.

I need how I can check perticuler Lun ID

Consider to ask hitachi for an appropriate tool ...

in our company, before me or my colegues,
adding some storage to the server, we always gather all information from system, SysInfo,
and them assinging the lun.

if you dont have any chance to identify the LUN, check ll /dev/dsk*/* for time change,
dmesg, if some disk is added there will be some messages such a :

/4/1/0.97.21.19.0.1.4 sdisk
0/4/1/0.97.21.19.0.1.5 sdisk
0/4/1/0.97.21.19.0.1.6 sdisk
0/4/1/0.97.21.19.0.1.7 sdisk
0/4/1/0.97.21.19.0.2 tgt
0/4/1/0.97.21.19.0.2.0 sdisk
0/4/1/0.97.21.19.0.2.1 sdisk
0/4/1/0.97.21.19.0.2.2 sdisk
.....

the you could check diskinfo and pvdisplay ...

if its possible generate a new device files for all devices, and them call to SAN admins to disable asigned lun, them ioscan -fnC |grep NO_HW ===> the disks ( luns ) will be NO_HW and you can identify it, i know its not the best way to get this info, but better as delete some production data,

if you have the disk again enable ( reasigne LUNS from storage ).
