EMC clariion and hpux 11v1, no luns after hpux reboot

Hello friends.
I have no access to EMC. this is being done by storage guys.
they carve out luns and present to hpux, i see all the luns (after ioscan and insf -e -C disk)

i also do
powermt config
powermt save
powermt display dev=all ( all show alive)

fcmsutil /dev/td0 and /dev/td1 also show as online.

after i reboot hpux,
fcmsutil /dev/td0 and /dev/td1 report AWAITING_LINK_UP and no luns, all links show as dead.

any solutions.
does the storage people missing something or am I missing something on the HPUX

Thanks

Re: EMC clariion and hpux 11v1, no luns after hpux reboot

post "ioscan -funC fc" and "powermt display paths"

Possibly a switch/port which resides between the HOST and Storage is offline too.

UNIX, storage and network all need to be checking..

Hi,

Do you have any access for the SAN Switch? You will need to check the SAN Switch too. In my opinion, if you have 2 HBA AWAITING_LINK_UP at the same time, the issue most likely be the SAN Switch or the Storage

Ask your storage guy to check the Storage Group configuration for the LUN.

Sandy

ensure your navi agent is running.

check FC cable is correctly attached to FC switch.

try to reinstall your devices using #insf -e

how many FC card u have?

if you have login ID to the san switch, you may want to login now.

Assuming you'r using brocade switch, perform the following command to list out possible devices attach to san switch. Try to find your WWN for your hba.

> nsallshow

I expect somebody had accidently deactivate zone which contain your hba and luns wwn.

or maybe the port which connect to your server is disable.

Re: EMC clariion and hpux 11v1, no luns after hpux reboot

AWAITING_LINK_UP means you aren't even connecting to the switch. Check link speed at both the HBA's and the switch port. Also make sure the switch ports are set for fabric login and not FC-AL.

The output of fcmsutil may be helpful. Unless the HBAs can connect to the switch all the powermnt and navisphere changes and commands will do nothing.

Do you have a copy of the switch configuration saved? When my switch was originally setup a copy of the configuration was made. It's a simple text file.

If you have it, you can grab another copy of the configuration from the switch, and compare the two.

Of course you should walk over to the fibre connections and see if they are plugged in. I always worry that a fibre cord might get pinched by a floor tile.
