Finding newfs options used during file system creation time

Is there a command which I can use to find out; what newfs options were used to create the file system?

Example: There is a logical volume /dev/vg01/newlvol. How can I can find out whether it is created with -o largefiles option or not.

Thanks

Re: Finding newfs options used during file system creation time

# fsadm -F vxfs filesystem

Change it with:
# fsadm -F vxfs -o largefiles filesystem

Thank you.

That answers my question.

Re: Finding newfs options used during file system creation time

Shalom,

The command fsadm can be used to check and even convert filesystem options. There is an example in the man page of how to convert a filesystem from no largefiles to largefiles.

Try it anyway, then tell us what happens.
(I've heard conflicting info whether JFS is really needed.)

If I try to run fsadm command when I do not have OnlineJFS product installed; I get the following message.

# fsadm -F vxfs /dev/vg00/lvolnew
vxfs fsadm: /dev/vg00/lvolnew is not the root inode of a vxfs file system

You need to run this on the mounted filesystem name. I.e. bdf -t vxfs
And the names on the right.

Re: Finding newfs options used during file system creation time

Shalom,

fsadm receives enhanced functionality from the OnlineJFS product.

To perform the command in Dennis's post however you do not need OnlineJFS

You need online JFS to defragment a vxfs filesystem or to extend it without umount
(and many other cool things)

Re: Finding newfs options used during file system creation time

The file system is mounted. Still the error.

Attached is some relevant commands output.
