HP-UX 11.23 and HP-UX 11.22 and LVM

Hi!

I have first node rx2600 server with HpUX 11.22 and second node rx4640 with HpUX 11.23 and one MSA 1000. Both nodes can connect the same luns, if the first node crash, we would like to use the second node with same luns with vgchange command. Looks like it's working, i can switch the luns between nodes with vgchange command, but cannot mount the file system on the second node with the following message 'disk image incompatible with this OS or system" I created the volumes and filesystem on the fisrt node. What's wrong? Is there any LVM or filesystem difference between two OS version?

Please show us the (exact) commands you're using to mount the filesystem, and any lines in /etc/fstab that might refer to that filesystem.

Could it be that the first node has VERITAS4.1 or similar filesystem option installed and the other has not?

VERITAS4.1 seems to be a free download for 11.23, see software.hp.com.

Sorry, but i wrote wrong. I created the volume group and filesystem on the second node HP-UX 11.23, and i cannot mount on the first node HP-UX 11.22. Mount option are same on both hosts.

11.23 uses vxfs version 5, where as 11.22 uses vxfs version 3.

You may needs to upgrade the version vxfs version to 5 on 11.22. Disk Layout version in 11.23 is 5 where as disk layout version in 11.22 is 4.

I will try it, or maybe i will recreate the volumes and filesysytem on 11.22 and maybe the newer version of Veritas on 11.23 can use the older version volumes and filesystems.
Or maybe upgrade the OS from 11.22 to 11.23.
