HP UX - HP EVA
I have a HP-UX K580 System with single HBA (1GB). We cannot do vgcreate on any disk created from either RAID5 disk groups; group1 is 72Gb Drives and group2 is 146gb. When reconfiguring the disk groups to RAID0, I can create volume groups. Has anyone seen this? I was hoping to use RAID5 with double sparing.
My system has the latest Host Kit 3.0x and OS is 11.0.0 and latest patches (9/03).
Thanks for any advice.

Re: HP UX - HP EVA
Misko,
could you please add some information? "We cannot do vgcreate"... is the command failing? Or hanging? Are some messages printed out? What command line option were used?
Best regards...
Dietmar.

Re: HP UX - HP EVA
Misko,
did you use the same LUN #s and device files
i.e. deleted LUN 15 (RAID1) and recreated LUN 15 in RAID5?
If yes, then any time you reconfigure the LUN run:
rmsf -H
ioscan -fnH
insf -e -H
diskinfo
pvcreate
vgcreate....
Check if that helps, I had a similar issue though not with an EVA.
Regards,
Bernhard
