Hi All,
We are planning to upgrade HP-UX 11.23 to HP-UX 11.31 using update-ux.
/dev/vg00/lvol3 /
/dev/vg00/lvol1 /stand
/dev/vg00/lvol8 /var
/dev/vg00/lvol7 /usr
/dev/vg00/lvol4 /tmp
/dev/vg00/lvol13 /oracle
Can I unmount the /oracle partition and start upgrading the OS. Once the upgrade is complete remount the parition.
All the paritions on the same logical volume vg00.
Thanks

SolutionThat should work, but make sure you do a make_net_recovery of vg00 less the oracle LV first, incase you have to roll back your upgrade. A full tape backup is the next thing you should do.
Just a quick note! I realize that sometimes you have no choice to upgrade in place, but a new 11.31 installation and application migration is the best and most recommended approach to upgrading the OS.
