HP & EMC Clariion CX500 "bad block relocation"

I know the rule of thumb is to turn off 'bad block relocation' on SIMs, but does that rule apply to ALL EMC units? I just found one of our HP/Clariion units with this set 'on'.

Turn it off. It won't do any good anyway. I turned it off on truly local disk in my D class admin days.

EMC told us to turn it off on our CX600 & CX700. They also recommended that we change the timeout values to 180 seconds for the CLARiiON physical volumes. See attached.

Thanks for the updates and assume I can make this change without affecting the current LV.

lvchange -r n #############

I hope this is true! I also assume that the little 'n' is better than the big 'N' on EMC.

Re: HP & EMC Clariion CX500 "bad block relocation"

Dan,

For both the EMC Symmetrix and the Clariion, EMC said that bad block relocation needs to be turned off. Use the 'R' as this disables this function. EMC handles its own bad block relocation.
