HP server not seeing EVA disk correctly.

Hi All,

Hopefully somebody will have the answer to this little problem I'm having:

6 Virtual disks are presented from the EVA to the HP server. Each disk is 25GB in size.
After reboot, the HP server created the appropriate device files for the disks.
But SAM thinks that they are only 2 disks with 12 paths each.
Supposed to see 6 disks with 4 paths each.

Creating a new volume group on the disk causes an error when it tries to add the other disks as alternate paths.

Latest LVM patch loaded, no effect.

EVA is a EVA 8000 with latest firmware and Command View 9.1

HP Server is a K380 running HP 11.00.

(On our other HP servers but running HP 11.11 all is fine)

Kind Regards,

Mark P.

Check whether the multipathing softwares are present in this server or not

Re: HP server not seeing EVA disk correctly.

Check to be sure the host type is set to HP-UX in Command View. And if you have valid data on these disks, DON'T switch the host type without backing it up first or you could have trouble.

Good luck

Re: HP server not seeing EVA disk correctly.

Do you have Secure Path (Autopath) Installed ?

Also I've read that if you want to change the host settings within command view, HP recommended you should unpresent the LUN's prior to changing and re-present after the change is made.

Re: HP server not seeing EVA disk correctly.

Securepath for Active / Active controllers should be installed.
