I do not understand your question. What do you mean "update a HP's LVM"? Do you mean to install the latest LVM patch? That is really the only update to LVM you can do.

Please give more details about what you want to do.

Re: How a bringing up to date makes of the LVM in a HP itself UX B. 11,0?

Shalom,

Updates to logical volume management are contained in bi-annual patch sets, the latest of which for 11.00 was May of 2004.

Download it, install it, it will want to reboot the box. The risk is minimal.

I agree with Patrick that you should elaborate a bit on the question.

Re: How a bringing up to date makes of the LVM in a HP itself UX B. 11,0?

Even though the question is not clear, we all guess what you need is updating LVM on HP-UX 11.00

i have recently patched my servers
PHCO_33244 1.0 LVM commands cumulative patch
PHKL_34694 1.0 LVM Cumulative Patch.

check this too
PHKL_27814 1.0 LVM Cumulative Patch w/Performance Upgrades
PHCO_27369 1.0 LVM commands (VA7410 HWE) cumulative patch.

keep to at least this levels.

Re: How a bringing up to date makes of the LVM in a HP itself UX B. 11,0?

Good nights.
Forgive my English is not good, but I will try explain better.
The question is:
How do I update LVM's version that I have in my server HP-UX version 11.0?
What do I need to do?
Of that link I can download it?
Which is the risk that I have?
pls i need help
I add a few information of the server, since the motive of the update is as that I have problems to the moment to create VG and FS.

Re: How a bringing up to date makes of the LVM in a HP itself UX B. 11,0?

Still not clear!

"tjderby / #vgcreate -s 1 /dev/vgprueba /dev/dsk/c5t9d0
vgcreate: Physical Volume "/dev/dsk/c5t9d0" contains no LVM information"

If you try to create a VG on a new and empty disk, you need to run "pvcreate" - this step was probably missing!

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Again:

If you try to create a VG on a new and empty disk, you need to run "pvcreate" - this step was probably missing!

Example

pvcreate /dev/rdsk/c5t9d0

Hope this helps!

Re: How a bringing up to date makes of the LVM in a HP itself UX B. 11,0?

Run vgdisplay -v for this VG and you will get something like this:

Max PV 16
Cur PV 1
Max PE per PV 2500
PE Size (Mbytes) 4
Total PE 2168

Now calculate

Max PE per PV * PE Size = max disk size

At least in 11.00 you cannot change the values.

Consider to add more smaller LUNs until you reach the maximum of Max PV.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
