How to reflect new LV in NODE1 to NODE2
Hi, we are using Oracle10g RAC in HP-UX 11 ,
all the datafiles are RAW device LV's .
when we want to add LV or extend LV for RAC database.we are using export and import for VG concepts to reflect in the second Node.but its some lenghly process. Is any other way to Reflect the LV's quickly on Second Node by using IOSCAN or other Concets.

Re: How to reflect new LV in NODE1 to NODE2
any changes made to a VG like addition /deletion og LV to that, the map file always needs to be given to the other node in case changes made and the VG exported and re-imported using that new map on the other node/nodes.
you are using 11iv1/11iv3 hope so.
in 11iv3 there are vgscan -N, ioscan -N and vgscan -k -f options if you need to see those new partitions created, so 11iv3 post Sept2008 can recognise new partions on disks and/or new disks in the system, also if ioscan sees the disks on the other node, vgscan -N can get those disks incorporated on the other system,
but for the newly created LVs on the VG, cant say with surity whether on 11iv3 the new LVs shall be visbile without a vgexport to create a map file, scp and export-Re-import the VG on the other node.
but this vgexport on the other node and the re-import using the new map file does guarantee the proper way of propagating the VG changes to the other node.

I don't take it that way. That is the job of system admins. If you still hesitate to run steps of commands, write a small shell script by putting all the export, import commands and run whenever you need. You need remsh/rcp or ssh/scp to do this.
So you can achieve the task in single script execution.
