I need to remount existing volume groups after a system crash, need help please.
Our root disc died due to bad blocks, I can still boot from it if I need to get any setup info.
I've made a new root disc and when I look in disc devices under SAM I can see all the discs on our SataBeast over the fibre channel.
But how do I restore the volume groups which are on the SataBeast? On SAM's volume group's screen I've tried Actions / Import but it can't find any. I don't want to create a new volume group in case it wipes all the existing data!
Do volume groups and logical volumes have config files (like fstab) which I can copy from the previous root disc? I've never had to use LVM much over the years so am nervous of wiping data.
I know the name of the old volume group and the names / sizes of the logical volumes on it. I can get more info by booting from the old disc.
All help appreciated!
